The Mariners' Museum is one of the biggest maritime museums in the world, with about 35,000 artifacts pertaining to humankind's relationship with the ocean. It resides in a 61,000-square-foot building in Newport News, in the heart of the Hampton Roads area. In addition to perusing exhibitions on small watercraft, miniature ships, cartography and other topics within Oceanography, visitors to the museum can access the maritime history library, the largest of its kind in the Western Hemisphere.
